There were several episodes which, while not absolute standouts by Curb's formidable standards, were still really strong and very funny. But Larry then immediately yelling at the kids, demanding his money back? Come on, LD, chill out! However, this season also offered plenty of laughs. That first part – the inability to hide his feelings – is very Larry, and very funny. This occurred again in the weakest episode of the season, " Officer Krupke", which had Larry unable to mask his disgust when he drank some lemonade he bought from some kids. But here, he seemed to be going out of his way to insult people. Again, it's such a fine line – there are scenarios we've seen on Curb before where we totally understood why others were offended by Larry, but usually we could also see his point of view too. This behavior was on display through much of " The Hot Towel", which found Larry going out of his way to start an argument with a stranger on a plane and then very rudely cutting off Jeff and Susie's daughter Sammy while she was singing. That being said, the Larry of Season 7 sometimes crossed the line into being a bit more of a direct a-hole than we've seen. And yes, he also speaks without thinking many times, resulting in hurting people's feelings. The Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm is short tempered and quite the complainer, but is he actually a jerk? I'd argue no, since the humor usually comes from Larry having a good point about something, but making things far, far worse, because he just can't back down, even when it's obviously the smart thing to do. Larry's Larry, but he'd still want to make sure she was okay, right? Actually, the portrayal of Larry is one place where this season faltered a bit. Curb is not a drama of course, but it still was odd for Larry to not at least get a single update from Leon on how Loretta was doing after she left. The one thing I do have to note though is that a big part of the first two episodes involved Loretta having gotten cancer, and Larry feeling trapped, unable to break up with someone who is sick, even if it's for completely different reasons. Leon was also an invaluable part of the season's penultimate episode, " The Table Read", in a hysterical scene involving he and Michael Richards. He and Larry's friendship gave us plenty of very funny moments, including their discussion of descriptions next to names on their cell phone ("Nancy big tits, so I know Nancy's got big ass tits"). While Leon only appeared periodically through the season, it was almost always to good use. Smoove), who continued to be an extremely funny addition to the series. It was fairly obvious David didn't want the series to actually chronicle this relationship though, as he quickly wrapped up the Larry/Loretta storyline, sending her and most of the Black family away – with the notable exception of Leon (J.B. Fox), which hilariously began at the conclusion of Season 6. Instead, Season 7 began with Larry still in the midst of his unlikely romance with Loretta Black ( Vivica A. Viewers tuning in to see the Seinfeld cast specifically this season would definitely have been frustrated, as they didn't make their first appearance until the third episode, and appeared infrequently after that until the end of the season. The reason for this was simple enough – the Seinfeld cast were reuniting on Curb, in a storyline that had Larry David and the actors from the series deciding to do a full reunion special that would never happen in real life. Curb Your Enthusiasm has been a cult series for HBO, which made it a bit offbeat to see the new season get a fairly large amount of mainstream media attention.
